SMARTAudit The SMARTWaste (Site Methodology to Audit, Reduce and Target Waste) system has been developed by CRM to provide tools such as SMARTAudit that is a robust and accurate mechanism by which wastes arising during a project's life cycle can be benchmarked and categorised by source, type, amount, cause and cost. This data is a springboard to identifying and prioritising actions to reduce waste arisings (producer responsibility), reuse at source (proximity principle), and maximise recovery to extend materials' life cycles. CRM will provide throughout the consultation, the SMARTWaste system and CALIBRELight and an established expertise built up through numerous waste minimisation and management projects. These tools will help facilitate the auditing, process mapping, management, recovery and optimal movement of your company's waste materials throughout the project life cycle. SMARTAudit Consultancy Packages offer your company specific benefits including:
The SMARTAudit approach will include an initial process mapping exercise to document processes in waste generating activities. The objectives of the consultancy are to:
SMARTAudit Consultancy Fees The fees for SMARTAudit consultations vary depending on the industry and the type of processes involved e.g. manufacturing or construction and demolition, and also the depth of auditing required. As the consultations are tailor made to your company's requirement, fees are based on the time required to conduct the audit. Approximate fees are listed below as a guide.
Note: Prices above exclude Travel and Subsistence. If your company require assistance in determining the most suitable package, please email the SMARTWasteTM system team (smartwaste@bre.co.uk) or contact Michelle Sjogren Leong at 01923 664516 for a quotation. SMARTAudit is a unique tool from BRE that audits in detail the source, type, amount, cause and cost of waste on your sites and reports this information in an easy to understand format. Your company will be given a homepage after registration where data collected from your company's projects can be entered, accessed and reports can be generated. Mandatory training provided by BRE will be required to use SMARTAudit. To use this tool effectively, trained employees will need to be available to log waste from all skips/containers of the project at least daily depending on the rate at which waste is being generated. The guideline for the amount of time required for waste data collection onsite is estimated to be 3 hours for a development of 80 houses. Collection of waste data onsite will be done with a pocket PC with at least 16MB of system memory. This information will then need to be downloaded onto the web based SMARTAudit database via your company homepage mentioned above. Reports of your requirements e.g. weekly or monthly reports, report of waste to date by all or specific waste groups, packaging waste production across sites, can be generated through your company homepage. With these reports, your company will be able to find out the true cost of waste and at the same time identify potential cost savings. SMARTAudit users include, among others Alandale Logistics, Bovis Lend Lease, BP, Countryside Properties, Tarmac Topfloor, Taylor Woodrow and Willmott Dixon. Licensing and Training Fees License for using the SMARTAudit tool is £1,000 per annum. The software can be accessed and downloaded via the SMARTAudit homepage once you have registered. A requirement of use is that each person in charge of inputting data into the system is trained by BRE in order to ensure accurate data entry. It is vital that accurate data is entered as the data you get from the system is as accurate as the data you put in. Training fees are dependent on the number of people to be trained and starts from £500 per person. Lower fees are applicable when a greater number of people are being trained. Training lasts for half a day with half of this ideally being based onsite. The training cost of SMARTAudit also includes a free one year project license for the SMARTStart tool. Where BRE consultation is required after licensing, fees will be charge in accordance to the time required for consultation. For guideline rates, see SMARTAudit Consultation Fees section above.
